Research Activities : As the major area of interst for the Department is associated with research on energy supplies, the Department has planned several joint programs in the field ranging from links with other departments in the faculty to international unions and conferences. To Name one, in 2001, after several administrative and academic sessions in AUTE and Azarbaijan scientific institutes such as Azarbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Physics, … the parties signed 4 protocols on joint teaching and research cooperations and exchanges. As the first outcome, the two institutes organized First International Conference on Technical and Physical Problems in Power Engineering (TPE)

which was held from 23-25 April 2002 in Baku, the Capital of Azarbaijan Republic. But this is not the whole story. The second TPE conference is going to be held in ATUM in 2004 and the third one in 2006 in Ankara (Turkey).  The fourth country which has declared its interest in joining TPE chain conferences is Georgia. The ultimate aim is to organize an Energy Union in the region.
